Abortion implies a RUPTure or "interRUPTion" of a process. In fact, many aborted gestations are associated with the rupture of fetal membranes. ABORT stands for interrupt or suppress as denoted by AB for NOT and ORIRI for arise. In this sense, nature and people can "abort" plans as well as pregnancies....
