"El Bufon don Diego de Acedo" o "El Primo" (The cousin) by D. de Velazquez (1599-1660), c. after 1644 - Museo del Prado, Madrid, Spain.

Don Diego de Acedo served in the palace since 1635 and became the Secretary of the Signet (postal service). The alias "primo" denotes he was highly respected by the King who so referred to those whom he permitted in his presence to remain "with the hat on" (in Spanish primo means cousin as well prime).
