"Pan and Syrinx" by Gerard Hoet (1648-1733) - Royal Museums of
Fine Arts, Brussels, Belgium.
Note: Ovid noted Syrinx, a virtuous nymph, when escaping
from Pan was arrested by a river and opted to pray
to become a reed or syrinx. Her wish granted, Pan opted
to immortalize Syrinx per syringes and a Pan pipe or flute.
