Detail from "Self Portrait", c. 1669 by Ferdinand Bol (1616-1680) - Rijks Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Note the pale sleeping Cupid, a reference of "tamed love". Perhaps Mr. Bol (who studied with Rembrandt) uses the theme of Psyche who tamed Cupid in the context of forthcoming marriage.
