"Gaulois Blesse (The Wounded Gaul)" (see detail), 2nd century A.D. - Louvre Museum, Paris, France.
Note: This warrior called Galatian by the Greeks (characteristic long curly hair) is a representation of the victory of king Attale of Pergamon (241-197 A.D.) against invasion by the Gauls. Similar representations stand in the acropolis of Athens along with others representing the defeat of the Amazons by the Athenians.
