Emperor Claudius? (ruled between 41-54) b.c. from the second half of his rule. Louvre Museum, Paris, France.

Emperor Claudius (ruled between 41-54) b.c. from the second half of his rule. Louvre Museum, Paris, France.

Note: Claudius had difficulties with speech articulation, drooling and spasmodic contorsions of his neck, perhaps the reason why his neck is rather thick. The ears appear asymmetric and are prominent like were those of his nephew Caligula. (also depicted in other Roman works [a] and [b]).
