Note that in some "advanced" countries there is strong opposition to fortify salt or with other micro-nutrients such as folic acid that can save lives and prevent permanent damage to countless children. The opposition to such steps is couched in sentimental rather than scientific reasons. Some would argue that the "vote" of "adults" who are here already mutes the rights of the unborn who have neither voice nor vote.
