A fetal skull or cranium showing open sutures and at their junction the "soft spot or "fountain" or fontanelle.
Note the lack of teeth, the relatively large orbits and the relatively small rib cage or thorax.
Also note the straight cranial suture from the fontanelle that ends in the
middle of the forehead or glabella. The forehead and
its surface are also called metopic.
