Note: Dr. Freud was born in Freiberg, now in the Czech Republic. He chose to concentrate on research in neurology. However, financial considerations led him to pursue clinical work with patients.
As shown here, Freud was an avid smoker of cigars and relatedly, he died from a carcinoma of the pharynx.
