"Wounded Amazon (copy)", 1st century A.D. - Palatine Museum, Rome, Italy.
Note: The original was created by Phidias for the sanctuary of Artemis at Ephesus. Since there were many versions of this sculpture, a competition was organized for the choice of the official one. In addition to Phidias, other competitors included Polycletus, Cresilas and Phradmon. The official sculpture chosen was that done by Polycletus (see a copy by Sosicles).
