This overview is concerned with THROAT which could not be presented
in a brief manner because of the many inherently related VITAL ideas. In the
interest of brevity, some of these ideas such as TONGUE, LIPS,
NUTRITION,
NURSING, LICKING, SWALLOWING, GORGING, GARGANTUAN,
JARGON and even GOURMET are explored in other
companion overviews.

Gargantuan Throat (Garganta)
or faucet (Pharynx). |
THROAT points to THROTTLE and refers to the exterior anterior
NECK as well as
to its interior cavity or PHARYNX.
FAUCES and FAUCIUM, Latin for PHARYNX, imply that the throat, like a faucet,
is constricted at its end. In fact, many humans choke on food stuck at the bottom of
the throat.
Compression of the anterior neck can THROTTLE
life by SUFFOCATION or compression of the FAUCE, which brings us back to the
idea of FAUCET.
A FAUCET often has the shape of a spout, a fact
reflected in Spanish by GRIFO which means SPOUT akin to the beaks of GRIFFINS. These
examples should help GRASP GRAPHIC points that the throat or fauces,
in a way, is our FAUCET to ingest or reGURGItate, an act which makes humans less than GORGEOUS and more like
GORGONS.
GARGANTA in Spanish is throat and derives from
GARG, an echoic word to remind us of throat sounds
as in GARGLE,
GARAGANTUAN, GARGOYLE and more.

Other related vistas are opened by GULLET,
GLUT, GLOTIS, GOURMET which offer ideas linking structure
and
function. In this regard, the function of the
throat or pharynx relates to EATING, BREATHING,
TASTING and TALKING which can not be grasped
without at least, exploring ideas in TONGUE, GLOSSO
or LINGUA which point to vistas dealing with
GLOSSARY and LANGUAGE.
