In another overview we explored
WOUND and TEAR.
Here we explore PAIN (ponos) which has to do with the Roman mythic
figures of NEMESIS and POENA. Also, the "pain"
idea flows toward misfortune (poros), penalty (pena),
penury (penuria), punishment, penance, indolence,
doleful, dolorous, algia, analgesic, hurt, crank,
cranky, and hospital (krankenhous).

Immortal artists often depict (with passion and emPATHize with) human physical and
spiritual pain. The "Pathos" (Passion) found in classic paintings
calls for contemplation (icons can be expanded to fuller vistas).
It is remarkable that some Christian theologians seriously proposed that animals can
not experience "real" pain, because they lack a "soul".
