"Francisco Lezcano, el Nino de Vallecas" by Diego Velazquez. (An instance of Achondroplasia). Marginalized children due to their malformations, on occasion were appreciated (achondroplasia does not impede brain development). This child entered the service of Prince Baltasar Carlos (who also employed another individual with achondroplasia, depicted by Velazquez) - Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain. D. Velazquez also painted a third individual with achondroplasia.
