malformations, on occasion were appreciated (achondroplasia does not impede
brain development). This child entered the service of Prince Baltasar Carlos
(who also employed another individual with
achondroplasia, depicted by Velazquez) - Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain. D.
Velazquez also painted a third individual with
achondroplasia.
